Mulch Rings Around Trees

Tip #2 February 2013

One of the best things to do is to add a Mulch Ring around the base of your tree. The ring of mulch will vary in depth and size depending on the size of the tree. If you have a tree that is approx 12″ in diameter the mulch ring should extend about 24″ out from the base of the tree and be no more than 3″ deep. This will allow some of the moisture to be retained and will also be a buffer from lawnmowers and weed eaters which are a major problem associated with base wounds of trees.
